The 2022 Toyota Highlander expresses a powerful stance and a sophisticated attitude. More than just a head-turning ride, the Highlander’s sculpted body also delivers significant aerodynamic improvements. These help maximize fuel efficiency while reducing noise, vibration, and harshness.
In models that feature front-row and second-row captain’s chairs, there’s room for seven adults. Models that feature a second-row bench seat can accommodate up to eight adults, if a little more people space is needed. Second-row and third-row seats fold away easily when more space is needed for cargo, making Highlander incredibly versatile, too. Large doors provide easy access to the third row and everyone will enjoy Highlander’s surprisingly spacious and modern cabin.
All-new for this year, Toyota introduces the 2022 Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition, a limited production, eight-person model featuring unique details and an exclusive body colour - Graphite. This Special Edition brings its own unique style, including Satin Bronze 18” Aluminum Alloy Wheels, Bronze Door Sills, a Hands-Free Power Rear Liftgate, Rain Sensing Wipers, and Puddle Lamps featuring the Highlander Logo. The Bronze Edition elevates your comfort and convenience with features like a digital display rear view mirror, 1500-watt power outlet, in-dash ambient lighting, and a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with memory system.

The Toyota Hybrid System offers increased power and fuel efficiency to get you to any destination with ease. The available AWD employs a separate rear-mounted electric motor to power the rear wheels, distributing more power there when needed. This means enhanced cornering agility by helping to reduce understeer, and increased rear-wheel torque over rough or slippery surfaces.
Highlander Hybrid offers selectable driving modes that let you choose the vehicle’s performance personality. SPORT mode unlocks boost from the hybrid system for improved acceleration response. ECO mode gets maximum efficiency from the fuel and battery. NORMAL mode is ideal for everyday driving, while EV mode allows electric-only driving at low speeds for short distances.
Highlander Hybrid models feature the Toyota Hybrid Drive – the most popular and proven electrified power train on the planet. This system, custom-configured for the Highlander Hybrid, is built around an Atkinson cycle 2.5L four-cylinder engine coupled to a continuously variable transmission. The Highlander Hybrid achieves 243 peak horsepower and a fuel efficiency rating of just 6.7L / 100km (city/highway combined) – and never needs to be plugged in.
The 2022 Highlander Hybrid features impressive towing capabilities that can haul 1,587 kg/3,500 lb., which is enough power to pull a camping trailer with ease.

All models feature an impressive bundle of powerful yet intuitive technologies plus comfort and convenience amenities. Every model includes a touchscreen-equipped display audio system with Apple CarPlayTM and Android AutoTM connectivity, a multi-information display, Toyota’s Smart Key System with Push Button Start, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, electronic parking brake, and LED headlamps. Additional features vary by trim level.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+
A long list of standard safety systems includes Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 – Toyota’s bundle of active safety technologies that help extend the driver’s awareness and ability to avoid collisions, or mitigate their effect. Features in this bundle include left turn intersection support, a risk avoidance system with semi-automated steering, and front-to-front risk detection. Dynamic Radar Cruise Control features curve speed management. Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist includes enhanced line and road recognition. Lane Trace Assist features quicker control and stability after a lane change.
Other standard safety features include the Toyota Star Safety System, the Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a back-up camera, and eight air bags.
