Toyota GAZOO Racing inspired driving performance
Under the hood, the 2025 GR86 is powered by a responsive 2.4-liter flat-four engine, generating an impressive 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. This robust engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, allowing drivers to choose their preferred driving style. With a focus on performance, the GR86 features advanced suspension systems and a low center of gravity, providing exceptional handling and cornering capabilities. The car also includes multiple driving modes, including Sport and Normal, which tailor the driving dynamics to your preference, making it equally at home on the track or the open road.
For 2025, GR86 shock absorbers have been re-tuned to help improve handling response and a sense of ground contact. Throttle mapping revised to increase the ease of “blipping,” an action commonly used when performing heel-toe downshifts in a motorsport setting. Furthermore, engine torque control has been adopted to provide a more direct throttle response and linearity, which in turn improves ease of control at all speeds. The Electric Power Steering has also been re-tuned for a more responsive handling feel and an improved sense of direct contact with the road.
Fuel economy comes in at a manufacturer-estimated fuel consumption of 11.9/8.7/10.5 L/100 km (city/highway/combined) for the manual transmission and 11.1/7.7/9.6 L/100 km (city/highway/combined) for the automatic.
2025 GR86 Hakone Edition
Paying tribute to the Hakone Turnpike in Japan, not far from Tokyo, Toyota is reintroducing the GR86 Hakone special edition. Born to hit the streets in style, the GR86 Hakone special edition is sure to turn heads with its bold Ridge Green exterior colour. Built off the GR86 Premium grade, the Hakone special edition will come standard with a six-speed manual transmission in Canada, and will be powered by a 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder boxer engine generating 228 horsepower and 184 lb.-ft of torque and is tuned so that peak torque arrives at 3,700 RPM, resulting in a responsive and powerful driving experience. Zero-to-100 acceleration comes in at 6.1 seconds with the 6-speed manual transmission. The special edition will feature 18-inch satin bronze-finished wheels, a colour-keyed duck-tail spoiler, black accents and a Hakone badge.
On the inside, customers will find Ultrasuede® sport seats with tan leather trim and stitching. A Hakone special edition shift knob with bronze accents sits front and center and a GR special edition plaque adds to the unique look and feel.
The GR86 2025 Hakone Edition comes standard with SACHS Dampers and Brembo® Brakes. The SACHS Dampers are filled with high-pressure nitrogen and oil and are designed to absorb vibrations across a wide range of speeds, maximize ground contact, and support firm, stable steering, while also balancing road feedback and ride comfort.
2025 GR86 Technologies
The 2025 GR86 features an 8" central touchscreen infotainment system with 6 speakers (or 8 for Premium models) that integrates seamlessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for all your connectivity needs. The audio system also features Bluetooth connectivity, an auxiliary audio input and 2 USB/charging port inputs, plus a 3-month trial to SiriusXM Satellite Radio.
